Sounds of Doskvol: Playlists for Blades in the Dark

This is a collection of Spotify playlists I have made for my Blades in the Dark campaigns over the years. I listen to these to transport myself to the right headspace, swaddling myself in an auditory blanket that represents Doskvol to me. To some degree I may have conditioned myself with these tracks - I can't listen to these playlists without feeling an urge to delve into the rain-slick cobblestone streets of North Hook.

BLADES IN THE DARK - This playlist mixes film and series soundtracks with some evocative vocal tracks and cinematic moments. The following playlists mostly divide the above into specific playlists for different types of moments in play.

DOWNTIME & PLANNING - This playlist is meant to be played when the players are roaming the city, doing downtime activities, and planning their next score. It's primarily non-vocal tracks for playing in the background during sessions.

VICES & INDULGENCE - For little scenes of the scoundrels indulging their vice.

SCORES & ACTION - Background music for when you have launched past the Engagement roll and the players are being thrust straight into the action.

WEIRD & ARCANE - For when the players are dealing with mystical forces, ghost field manifestations, seances and the like.

MONTAGES & MOMENTS - These tracks are less eidetic. These stand out more as moments of score in the TV series over particular montages or standout cinematic moments. Many of these tracks feature vocal performances so they're less suited for background music.

THE WAKE - This playlist is specifically dedicated to one of my roleplaying groups I started during the pandemic specifically to play Blades in the Dark.

BAND OF BLADES - A theme playlist for the Forged in the Dark game Band of Blades, for a grim military fantasy mood. Heroism through duty, prevailing despite desperate odds.

SCUM & VILLAINY - Inspirational playlist for getting in the mood for some space adventures. Generally upbeat, thrilling, and playful mood.
